Event Description

Following the success of our 2024 trip, Banebranchen is once again inviting railway enthusiasts – students and association members – on an unforgettable journey into the heart of the rail industry, this time in northern Germany.

This is your chance to step behind the scenes and witness cutting-edge railway operations and manufacturing up close!

Itinerary highlights (exact route is subject to change):

• Day 1: Depart from Copenhagen by train, heading to Maschen, Europe’s largest marshalling yard, operated by DB Cargo. Then, we continue by train to Hannover, where you’ll have the evening to explore the city at your leisure.
• Day 2: Travel by coach to Alstom’s rolling stock factory in Salzgitter, where we’ll tour the production facilities and gain exclusive insights from DSB on supplier collaboration (including their IC5 trains, though viewing them is not guaranteed). Afterward, we head to Magdeburg for an overnight stay, where the evening can be used at your own discretion.
• Day 3: Visit Voestalpine BWG’s turnout factory in Brandenburg, south of Berlin, for a deep dive into the latest track technology. In the evening, we return to Copenhagen – students can choose between a night train (included) or a flight at their own expense.

Important Notes:

• Students: Transport and accommodation are covered, including a “Deutschland Ticket” for regional/local trains (pending final arrangements).
• No-show fee: Students who sign up but do not attend will be charged a 1000 DKK fee to cover non-refundable expenses.
• Correct name submission: Students must ensure their name is stated exactly as in their passport, including middle names, to avoid issues with bookings.
• Members: You can join coach transport but must arrange their own travel to/from Germany and accommodation in Hannover & Magdeburg (please wait for further instructions before booking).
